Last week, Blue Ecosystem had the pleasure of participating in the Circle the Med Forum, held at the Port of Piraeus in Athens, Greece.
The Forum was co-organised with the Innovative Sustainable Economy (ISE) Mission of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, in which Blue Ecosystem is engaged as a Thematic Project.
Over three days, the event brought together a wide range of Mediterranean stakeholders committed to advancing a more sustainable, resilient, and circular economy. It provided a dynamic platform for dialogue, cooperation, and the co-development of concrete solutions for the future of the Mediterranean.
- Day 1 – High-Level Dialogues
The opening day set the tone with high-level dialogues focused on a renewed Mediterranean vision based on cooperation, resilience, and shared responsibility.
Discussions explored the region’s strategic role in the global climate and energy transition, the stewardship of the Mediterranean Sea and its ecosystems, and the importance of placing the human dimension : cultural heritage, social cohesion, and community wellbeing at the heart of sustainable development.
- Day 2 – MED Innovation Summit
The second day, dedicated to the MED Innovation Summit, focused on turning innovation into impact through cross-sectoral and multi-level cooperation.
Blue Ecosystem contributed to the panel “Waves of Change: Redefining New Models for Sustainable Systems”, sharing its experience in fostering regional innovation ecosystems and highlighting the importance of collaborative approaches to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient blue economy across the Mediterranean.
- Day 3 – ISE Community of Practice
The final day was dedicated to the ISE Community of Practice gathering, bringing together the thematic projects, governance initiatives, and partners from across the network.
Blue Ecosystem actively participated in thematic working groups and collaborative exchanges focused on marine resources. These exchanges offered valuable opportunities to share experiences, compare perspectives, and identify common pathways to accelerate the deployment of innovative solutions for a more sustainable blue economy. The insights gained from these discussions will be useful in drafting future white papers as part of the ISE mission.
Beyond the structured sessions, the Forum offered valuable opportunities to connect with new partners, reinforce existing collaborations, and engage with stakeholders united by a shared ambition for a more sustainable Mediterranean future.
A big thank you to the organisers and the ISE Mission for creating such a meaningful space for dialogue and cooperation!
