🤝 Building synergies for innovation in water management
On 8th July 2025, the workshop “Boosting synergies for innovative solutions in water management, depollution and restoration in the Mediterranean Basin” took place online, organized by CPMR-IMC as part of the 1st Cross-Fertilization Webinar between the EU Ocean & Waters Mission and the Interreg Euro-MED Programme.
The event brought together representatives from flagship EU projects such as BlueMissionMed, policy makers, research institutions, and actors from the Interreg Euro-MED Programme. Its goal: to align strategies and foster solutions for sustainable water management and depollution across the Mediterranean.
🎤 A voice from the field: Blue Ecosystem’s contribution
During the interactive session of the webinar —facilitated via a shared Miró board— Blue Ecosystem actively contributed by presenting the latest developments of the partnership:
“We’ve worked intensively with all 8 regions to identify local challenges and define regional missions through co-creative processes. Now, all efforts are focused on launching the ‘call for innovative solutions’, available on our project website.”
This call marks a key moment for the project: deepening dialogue with regional and local stakeholders, including public authorities, enterprises, universities, research centres and citizens, all of whom will be involved in the so-called TRAIN LABs —collaborative spaces to co-design innovative solutions.
“The calls will remain open until the end of summer/early autumn, and we’re eager to gather new ideas, approaches and perspectives to strengthen our collective impact and scale solutions further.”

The event enabled:
- Mutual understanding between different EU programmes and project communities.
- Capitalisation of concrete solutions for water-related challenges.
- Shared commitment to long-term cooperation and stronger alignment across missions.
